School Days

Everyone seems to be going back to School, Amy posted on her Blog about Caleb’s first week in First grade, Ian starts Kindergarten tomorrow. While we out here on the West coast still have ten more days of Summer.

Xavier’s first day of Second grade is September 5th.

Xavier is going to be in Second grade!!!!

He got his classroom assignment this past Thursday – well, sort of. He is going to be in a team teaching group this year. He will have two teachers instead of one. One will be his homeroom teacher and then half way through the day he will move from that teacher to another teacher next door with his whole class. However we still don’t know which teacher will be his homeroom teacher.

We went and bought his school supplies last week and we have him already to go to school. Except for clean clothes.

See we have no washer right now. It broke. We are waiting for the landlord to replace it. He is going to get us a new one but I don’t know when exactly. So we will have to wait on the clean clothes thing.

It is weird to hear about everyone going back to school when I feel like we still have so much time left before it starts.

In case anyone is wondering, we still have NO IDEA what is going to happen with Willoweve. I will post when I know something.

Facebook

So today I joined Facebook.

What does that mean – well it is just one more way to try and stay in touch with friends across the country. Jason joined it a while ago thanks to an invite from Marc. Then he started talking about it so much I joined too. I am not sure how many people I know are on it but it could be fun.

I posted this really cool picture on Facebook too. I will share it with you too cause I like it so much.

Pam&Jason Tiger

Yup, that’s me – feeding a baby tiger. (Xavier is with me too) Some of you might remember this – Jason shared a message that included this story at Cornerstone once a few years ago. We were visiting Virginia Beach and there was a place you could visit Baby tigers and hold them. We stopped and got a family picture taken with the baby tiger. It just so happened that our timing was right and they offered to let me feed the baby. It was a bottle of milk and ground beef – UHM – YUCK. But SOOOO COOL.

I wish you all a happy weekend.

My Wonderful daughter (this is FUNNY)

Something HYSTERICAL happened tonight – just a few moments ago actually.

It was 9:30pm and she came into the living room wide awake. Jason and I of course sighed quietly and asked what she needed.

“Well, I just need a wipey.” She told us calmly.

“Why?”

“Well, to get the crumbs off my floor.”

We both hid our faces behind our hands and tried to hide the laughter. We spent a few moments trying to convince her she could save the crumbs for tomorrow but she was adamant, the crumbs were getting on her feet you see.

So we agreed I would carry her back to bed (to keep the crumbs off her feet) and Jason would come with us to see about the crumbs.

He was concerned that she might have un potted the flowers in her garden and wanted to clean the dirt up before we saw it. As he opened the door we saw it…..

Over the past hour and a half since bed time Willoweve had….

Cleaned her entire room, made her bed, picked up all her toys, put away her stuffed animals and EVEN folded all the clean laundry in her room. She did it all so QUIETLY too. I had not idea she was still awake until she came out.

I have to admit I was really impressed by the job she did on her room. She divided the laundry into two piles and arranged all the toys along her wall. She put her dolls into the right bin and lined her stuffed animals up against the wall. She made her bed. It was lovely.

I lost it. I laughed harder then I have in months. I laughed and Laughed and laughed!!!! SHE CLEANED HER ROOM! IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT! I laughed so hard I couldn’t breath. Jason was cracking up too. After several long minutes we got ourselves together.

I asked her in between giggles I still hadn’t quite gotten completely under control why she had cleaned her room.

“Because I wanted it to be shiny.” She told us. Of course Jason swept her floor for her. As he did he asked her if she had been working on it the whole time.

“No, only since I was done playing, you know, in here, in my room.” she explained to us.

I love my daughter! She is wonderful.

Hair cut day

Today the boys had hair cut day. So I thought I would post a picture of them with their new hair.

Hair cuts 8-16-07 005

Here are the boys in their PJ’s after their hair cut. It is the same Hair cut we always gave Xavier as a baby (the shaved head look). Quinn, with his chubby cheeks and dimples looks significantly less like a refugee from a prison camp then Xavier ever did.

And one with Willoweve.

Meet Little Joe

Today was a FABULOUS… SPECTACULAR… WONDERFUL day.

Today the kids and I went out to the horse farm where our friend leases a horse and the kids got to ride— and I got to play. Then we went on a picnic at the playground for lunch. We played with Little Joe, the Arabian that my friend Vicki leases one day a week.

I left the farm feeling tired, and yet strangely rejuvenated and energized at the same time. The heat and the work, helping groom Joe, muck his stall and lead him, left me physically tired. Yet, at the same time the enjoyment and satisfaction left me feeling full of energy and ready for more.

I would love to do this every week. Spend time working with horse and around them. I love the smells, the feel, and the energy of the barn. I even love mucking stalls. I wish the horse back riding experience was just a tiny bit less costly.

I had so much fun. So I have tons and tons of pictures to post today.

Ready here we go:

Quinn My little cowboy on Little Joe. Quinn had a horrible allergic reaction at the barn, I am not sure what he reacted to but my best guess it the bedding. Despite that he LOVED riding the horse.

Quinn hugging Joe.

Willoweve riding Joe. Willoweve rode all by herself (with a person leading) she even trotted a little.

My big cowboy, Xavier did great, he learned how to safely walk around horses and he helped groom Joe.

Quinn again – he REALLY likes riding. He didn’t even need someone walking next to him he has such good balance.

More Xavier.

Me and Joe (and the little girls too).

The girls in their pink hats. TOO CUTE!

OK now the gruesome picture. Poor, poor little baby Quinn. He had such a horrible reaction. His eyes swelled almost closed and he had hives on his face. Little Joe 8-15-07 009

Poor baby. He looks much better tonight after a dose of Claratin and a nice cool bath.

I just can’t tell you how much fun I had today. The kids had a good time too and we all got lots of outdoor time and exercise. I was so thrilled with the opportunity to be around horses again. Thanks you Vicki for having us come up for the day. I hope we can do it again sometime soon.

I hope you all had a great day today too. Happy Wednesday.

Playing catch up

I have barely been on my computer in the past week. Instead I’ve been working a lot of hours and busy doing stuff. So now today I am trying to play catch up. Replying to e-mails and read the 30 Blog entries made on the 6 BLOGS I read regularly. I had several e-mails I wanted to reply to as well.

Jason took the kids to see Underdog today and they both came home saying it was great and that they enjoyed it. Quinn stayed home with me and uhm, napped??? Really you cannot call what he did for the first two hours napping. He had three HUGE poppy diapers then the Blue Angles flew over and he got very upset, then he climbed into the hamper and got stuck there and cried for a while.

Finally at about 2:20pm he fell asleep, and so did I. I woke up not feeling great this morning and my throat is very sore this afternoon. I am horse and I feel generally achy. I am hoping that it is just bad allergies – I have had allergies since moving out here and they never really bothered me back in MD. I would really prefer not to be sick this week. Anyway I have tired to take it easy today and just catch up on computer stuff.

I hope you have all had a pleasant weekend and I wish you all a productive week. I am looking forward to getting stuff done around the house (laundry lots and lots of laundry) and spending quality fun time with the kids. I can’t think of a good picture to share today but I will be taking some this week and I will post them as I take them.
