Weights and Measures

Ok, so it’s been a while since I gave an update – sorry – my bad – but here we go.  this week I lost 2 pounds.  You can’t see me but I am throwing myself a little party right now.  So since I joined WW six weeks ago I have lost a total of six pounds – or about a pound a week, which I have read is a good rate of weight loss – safe and sustainable.

On the 15th I took my measurements.

I lost inches everywhere but my calf’s.

Total I lost 4 inches – including an inch from my waist.  It you subtract the half inch I gained around my calf I lost 3.5 inches last month.

So I gained half an inch around my calf – but I think I might know the cause maybe I measured in the wrong place. So this month I measured how far below the knee I took the measurement and wrote it down so from now on I can make sure to get it right.

So since beginning this adventure I am down six pounds and 6.5 inches.  I guess it really is working even if I feel like the progress is CREEPING along.

I wish you all a happy week.

Living room and stuff….

Sometimes all you need is a little change and I guess that is what I needed this week.

Jason and I spent a lot of time talking and thinking and planning and then we totally rearranged the living room and dining room.

I love it.  We got a new rug for the living room and it is soft and pretty.  We also got a new smaller table for the dining room that gives us more room.  Put some shelves in the dining area to free up some counter space in the kitchen and moved an end table from the basement into the living room so I have a place to story my computer and cross stitch stuff.

It looks great – feels spacious and even the kids are loving it. Although – as predicted by Jason Quinn cried the first time he saw it.  The child really struggles with change.  Poor sweet boy – he likes it now though.

Today we are off to ride on Thomas after the kids have kids camp and I go to the gym.

Tomorrow we are marching in the West Seattle Parade with Westside  Baby.

Sunday we are having a Pizza Party Celebration for the end of kids camp after church.

Monday I think I will collapse and sleep for a week :)

Our house….

I have to admit I am feeling frustrated today.  I know it means I need to adjust my attitude and be thankful.

So I know that. Now to a tiny little vent… tiny – I promise.

Our house is wonderful, I love it and I love the location.  However it is small for five people. If we had the full use of the basement it wouldn’t be that small – but… the basement is unfinished and right now it is full of junk.  To achieve full use we need to put in a new floor, a drop ceiling and walls.

Did I mention we don’t own the house so what can we do to the basement?  Well, not the walls, that’s for sure.

UHG.

In an attempt to make all this work we are renting a storage facility and we are going to move some of the stuff from the basement into that. We also bought a tiny little table to try to give us more room in the dining area.

Yet Jason is still complaining that it feels as cramped as it did with the larger table.  Last night we were both in bad moods, frustrated and annoyed, as we tried to figure out how to arrange the living room to give us room for everything.

I don’t want to move – I like our house. I just wish we had the full use of the basement….

Busy weekend

We’ve had a very busy weekend this week.

On Friday the 4th we went to the Olympic mountains with Jason’s mom.  We went to visit Hurricane Ridge.  It was a fun trip and we had a good time, but I think I want to go again in the later summer.  We weren’t able to hike the trail because there was snow over my head on the trail.

We did see about 9 different mountain deer on the trip.  We watched one Climb straight up an almost 90 degree angle hill.  Jason and I were shocked at the deer ability to move up such a steep hill.

After getting home to West Seattle we walked about a mile and a half down to a park overlooking Seattle Center and watched fireworks.  By the time we got home it was 11:30pm.  We were all exhausted.

This morning we went down to Alki beach and watched the Pirates land. you can check out some pictures of the even on the West Seattle Blog.   It was a fun and hectic experience.  I ended up toasted from the sun but the kids avoided getting burned.  They had a blast and Xavier and Willoweve both bumped into friends at the event.  We also talked to several pirates and the kids got pirate coins and pirate money.

This weekend is one of beginnings.  July fourth is considered the unofficial start of summer and hopefully sunny warm weather. The Pirates landing is the start of Seafair a month long even here in Seattle.

It has been a fun weekend, but I have to admit I am looking forward to resting a bit tomorrow.

I hope everyone had a happy and safe Fourth of July.

Weigh In day

No loss to report this week – I did maintain.  Last week I lost 2 pound and the week before I lost 3.  So far doing WW I have lost 5 pounds.  I maintained this week which is pretty good considering the weekend I had – I overate both Saturday and Sunday.

On a totally different note I achieved a goal Yesterday:

Yesterday I did not one – but five 11 minute miles.  Ok I know this is no huge deal to a lot of people but … well when I started the 60 minutes back in April I could only go three and a half miles in 60 minutes.  Now I am doing 5.5 miles in 60 minutes.

My ultimate goal is to get down to 8 minute miles but I am breaking it down into steps and the first step I set for myself was an 11 minute mile and I DID IT. (next is 10 minutes but I bet you could have guessed that J )   I am also excited because when I started I was working on level three for the majority of the work out now I am doing level 7 for the majority of the work out and getting as high as level 12 for my simulated hills.  Not to bad.

I should mention I did this on the Elliptical not the tread mill.  I had to switch form the treadmill to the elliptical back in May because I was having a lot of foot and knee pain and the doctor said it might be from the “striking” motion of the exercise I was doing.  I switched and it helped a lot with clearing up the pain.

So overall I am not at all dissatisfied with the week I had.  I hope to loose this week.  I also hope to continue to do between 5 and 5.5 miles on the elliptical each day I go to the gym this week.  My final goal for the week is to do my work out DVD every day that I don’t make it to the gym.  It isn’t anywhere near as intense as my gym workout but at least it keeps me doing something.

I wish you all a happy week.
