More Mall Hell

Today there was a shooting at Southcenter Mall.

Two people were shot

This is the same mall I walked through with my kids two days ago.

This fact didn’t actually hit home to me until I read this paragraph of the article.

“We heard two shots,” shopper Cindy Stephenson said. “There was pandemonium … All the parents were screaming trying to get their kids.

I could have been one of those parents.  My kids and I walked all over the mall, we had ice cream and went in different shops looking at toys and showing each other things we wanted for Christmas.

Now suddenly my car getting keyed seems like a small price to pay for a safe visit to the mall.

I will be praying for the victims of the shooting, I hope that they make a full recovery.

I will also be avoiding the mall for the foreseeable future.  There are other books stores, movie theaters and Hallmark stores.

Mall Hell

Last night Jason and I left the city and went to the suburbs.  We had to go to the mall for something.

***************Shudder **********

I hate the mall.

It’s big, stressful and busy.  Walking around it with all three kids is a challenge.

Anyway we all survived the experience and I got some great pictures of the kids to give as Christmas presents this year.

It wasn’t until this morning that Jason and I noticed the more lasting results of this excursion from the safety of the city to the dangerous world of the suburbs.

Our car, our Prius the NEW car, got keyed in the parking lot.

Someone intentionally keyed our car. ON BOTH SIDES!!!!!

This Really irritates me.  See it’s not so much the car.  I mean – it’s just a car.  But I am upset. Because someone thought it was fun, took joy in destruction.

Why? Why did someone enjoy this? What about this act gave them pleasure?

I mean if someone had scratched it with their car door I would have shrugged it off and said shit happens.  People make mistakes it was an accident no biggy.

But someone did this one purpose.  Once clear, straight line, down both sides of the car.

I am left with a deep disappointment with the people who take joy in this kind of action.

Facebook Anyone?

I love Facebook.

Jason and I have been on Facebook since we moved to Seattle last winter – wait sorry – OMG – it was TWO winters ago.  We have lived in Seattle almost TWO YEARS!!!!

Wow…weird.

Anyway back to Facebook.

So I love Facebook – it’s great fun and the best way to waste time – I mean – umh, network – yeah network that’s it. Where else can you find out what Character you are from Jane Austin, or Kelley Armstrong’s Otherworld series (I’m Paige the good wich in the other worlds and Cathrine Morland from Nothanger Abby BTW – if anyone wanted to know.)

Ok seriously.  Facebook is great because I have a way to keep up with the lives of all my friends and extended family. I have 4 cousins on Facebook, one I haven’t seen since he was a toddler, but now I see how he’s doing every time I log on.

Plus I get to see each day how my friends in MD are doing – Michelle  your puppy is so cute and Mary thanks for the advise about the bleach.  I never knew that.

Then there’s the youth.  I love reading Barret’s notes and seeing Robin, Megan and Kelly’ s status updates.  I miss all you guys – anyone want to move to Seattle – it is truly wonderful out here.

Not to mention the friends I’ve reconnected with from High school and who moved away years ago and I thought I would never hear from again in this life – then they pop up on Facebook.

Not only that but I get to see how my current friends here in Seattle are doing. Life is grand – Facebook is grand.

What – you DONT’T have a facebook page.  OMG!!!   Get on FACEBOOK – it’s so much fun and such a great way to stay in touch.

Rachel – this blog post is for you honey!!!

Luv ya!

Been a while.

Yeah it’s been a while, but here I am trapped in front of my computer with orders from my podiatrist to stay off my feet as much as possible this weekend.

I went to see him this morning so he could torture me with a cortisone injection.  I had one three weeks ago in my left heal and it worked WONDERS.

The one I had today was in the right heal, so far, no wonder- only PAIN.  Lots and lots and lots of pain.

Anyway – this has been a historic week.  No matter who you voted for or what you think about the outcome of the election the week is historic.

For me there is a note of sadness that has nothing to do with the OUTCOME of the election.  But rather the process.  This was the last year that Seattle will be voting via polling places.  From now on voting will be done via mail in ballets.

How very sad.  Jason and I walked with the kids to our voting site on Tuesday night and we voted, the kids waited patiently and read books.  I was so glad we took them so they could “see” us vote this last time.

Personally I think it SUCKS that they are going to mail in ballots.  I like GOING to vote.  Oh well, I suppose this is just one more piece of the historic nature of this election.  It is the last of it’s kind in Seattle.

Happy Friday everyone.
